Experiental Learning session at PTV English Medium Primary Section
“Give the pupils something to do, not something to learn; and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results.” – John Dewey
“Experiential learning is the process of learning by doing which enables the learners to acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes through direct experience”.
One of the important aspects of the NEP 2020 is the emphasis on the application of the principles of experiential learning in the teaching-learning process.
A session on the topic: English Language Learning: The Experiential Learning Approach was conducted by our English teacher from the Secondary Section Mrs. Nair Vinitha on 13th June 2023.
The main aim of this interactive session was to discuss different means and methods to introduce Experiential Learning in the classroom to develop LSRW skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing skills) in the students.
We discussed on:
Ways to provide a supportive learning environment.
Methods to facilitate engaging learning situations.
Steps to create an environment conducive to learning.
The need to encourage students to think ‘out of the box’.
Enriched from the experience, we look forward to creating classrooms where learning will be fun and teaching a joy.
