Joyful Learning Through Creative Activities
I, Veeram Anuradha Vishnu Gore, along with Shweta Nakhate, conduct a variety of creative, hands-on activities in schools. These include Ganesh idol making, kite and lantern making, memory techniques, storytelling, speed-reading tricks, punch craft, origami, kirigami, and toy making.
Each year, we explore different themes for toy making to keep the experience fresh. For instance, this year we focused on air and sound, while last year it was magnetism and electricity. Punch craft remains a common feature, as I have an extensive collection to share.
These activities significantly enhance students’ learning. They boost creativity, concentration, and vocabulary, while encouraging active participation. Students enjoy the process, make their own creations, and take them home proudly. All materials are provided, ensuring a smooth, enriching experience.
Academic subjects like maths, chemistry, biology, and geography become engaging through these fun approaches. Often, even if students can’t explain the concepts verbally, their understanding deepens. “Learning by doing” proves to be the most effective method.
We also learn alongside the students, and every year we strive to bring something new. There’s no end to learning, teaching, and enjoying. In the past, students have loved activities like eco-friendly rakhi making and fun with mathematics—and we’re sure they’ll enjoy this year too!
